Time to Start Your New Energy Business

You will probably scratch your head when you read the title of this article. How can you suggest to start a new business when things seem to be falling apart in the world? Of course, Adamus did suggest this during the Q&A in last Saturday’s Shoud, but didn’t he also mention the tough times ahead?

It is true that the current financial crisis in the world is without precedent. As a former banker and risk manager I have seen banking crises before, but this time it indeed feels different. In a matter of weeks we saw some of the most powerful and biggest banks in the world crumbling, not only on Wall Street but also in other parts of the world. And in the meantime governments seem unable to restore confidence and trust in the marketplace. If you wonder how this all started have a look at this very funny YouTube video clip.

The risk of being “sucked in” by this crisis is increasing every day. I have been watching the news as never before in the last two weeks, knowing and feeling that something special is unfolding, and this in itself has already been pretty distracting. It reminded me of the feeling that I had when I was a small boy and hopped on my bike to watch a building on fire. That mixture of excitement and awe for the power that is being unleashed and in a matter of minutes destroys a complete structure, but also the fear when the fire starts to spread and come your way.

So, why on earth would it be a good time to start a new energy business now? And what exactly is a new energy business?

A new energy business is a business that does not focus on the bottom line and the accumulation of power, but on expressing passion and creating a balanced relationship with all stakeholders, i.e. customers, suppliers, partners, etc. At its heart lies the joy to express. This will create the attraction for others to use your services or products because they want to connect with something that will give them a different and more positive feeling. They might even feel inspired by your passion and just want to buy from you because of what you radiate.

The business environment will also likely change and be much more open to new kinds of businesses and ideas. The current crisis has an incredible potential to change the consciousness and mass belief systems about business and money in general. In that regard it is interesting to see that, besides our dear friends on the other side of the veil, more and more high profile bankers, academics, and journalists are also starting to predict that this crisis will cause a fundamental shift in our society.

So how to do it? Speaking from my own experience with establishing several businesses in the past couple of years, I recommend that you keep things simple. Let go of any idea that a business is only a business when you have formally incorporated a company, rented an office and hired staff. Your business can be as simple as doing something from home and provide goods or services in exchange for money or something else. In the Ask Tobias on New Energy Business, Tobias explains that the essence of business is the exchange of energy. So your new energy business can take many shapes or forms.

Will you encounter any challenges while starting a business? Probably, but remember everything that you have learned in past few years. With your new energy toolkit, consisting of the conscious breath, the short wall and not to forget conscious choice, you should be able to deal effectively with any issues that might come your way.

You will experience that doing business is exciting, fun, rewarding and will provide you with many opportunities to grow. Oh, and did I mention fun? Make sure that whatever you do brings you lots of fun. And if you have an idea for your new business but then the doubt comes in? Take a deep breath and just do it anyway! As the Chinese say, every journey starts with a single step. Start without expectations, go for the experience, and let yourself be surprised by what can happen when you make that high level choice and take the first step.
